Spiritual Entrepreneurship: Everything You Need To Know

Introduction

Are you a spiritual person? Are you or do you want to be a business owner? You might have seen a lot of people bringing spirituality and business together. This means that they are able to combine their beliefs and values with what they do. Such spiritual entrepreneurs are the future of the world because nothing can stop them. Since I have had the experience of being on the journey to becoming a spiritual entrepreneur, let me share what are its benefits, what traits you need to be a successful spiritual entrepreneur, and what ideas you can utilize.

“Before you can transform your wallet from poor to rich, you’ve got to transform your spirit from poor to rich” – Robert Kiyosaki [1]

Understanding Spiritual Entrepreneurship

I always considered myself to be a spiritual person. I think that even if we don’t believe in a particular entity, we do believe in there being a power above us and beyond our understanding, right? In fact, even scientists and physicists have started accepting that today. The theories of Quantum Physics, specifically, have been confirming what most religious scriptures have already spoken about.

As for entrepreneurship, it’s a form of business where you are willing to take risks to be able to earn an income wherein, beyond a point, your presence will not be needed, yet you earn money and create wealth.

I believe this sort of wealth creation can only happen through spirituality. There are countless examples of the same- Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple; Robert Kiyosaki, the famous author and founder of the Rich Dad Company; Oprah Winfrey, the author, actor, and TV show host; Arianna Huffington, the founder of The Huffington Post; Dr. Vijay Eswaran, the founder of Quest International Limited and author, etc. All of these famous entrepreneurs have shared in a lot of interviews how spirituality transformed their lives and how it has helped them create a huge impact on people’s lives as well. These people brought spirituality and entrepreneurship together in one way.

Another way is to be an entrepreneur with spirituality as the product or service itself. For example, you might have heard of Rhonda Byrne, the author of books like ‘The Secret- Law of Attraction’ or ‘The Magic’ and of Deepak Chopra, the famous mind and body spiritual healer, founder of ‘The Chopra Foundation,’ and author of ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.’ Now, both these people used their spiritual knowledge as the base and became successful entrepreneurs. They sell their spiritual knowledge, and that, too, has changed the lives of millions of people across the globe.

Both these aspects of business combined with spirituality is what ‘Spiritual Entrepreneurship’ is all about. When the aim of your profit-making venture is to help people live better lives, it makes you a ‘Spiritual Entrepreneur’ [2]. Being a Spiritual Entrepreneur, you will not just gain financial success but also find a deeper meaning in your life, just as all the famous people I mentioned above have [3].

Benefits of Spiritual Entrepreneurship

If you’re wondering why you should go for an entrepreneurial venture that is backed by spirituality, here’s your answer  [5]:

Benefits of Spiritual Entrepreneurship

  1. Meaning and Purpose:  We all want to give meaning to our lives and leave a legacy where people know that we left a mark. Spiritual entrepreneurship can help you do that. You’ll be in absolute bliss because you’ll be able to feel a much deeper connection with your mission and the impact you’ll make on the society.
  2. Personal Growth and Well-being: As a spiritual entrepreneur, you can indulge in a number of spiritual processes. Like I practice mindfulness, meditation, and breathing exercises. These practices help me in being more aware of my thoughts and feelings, having a calmer and more focused mind, and if there are any challenges, then I know I can bounce back easily.
  3. Enhanced Business Performance: One of the most important principles of the business world is, to be honest and ethical about your work. Spirituality can teach you to become a better entrepreneur because then you will make decisions based on your ethicality rather than how to save yourself and your business. That way, you will also gain the trust of investors and stakeholders, making your business reach greater heights than ever before.
  4. Social and Environmental Impact: As a spiritual entrepreneur, you will be able to contribute to the society and create a huge impact even on the environment. When your and your business’ aim is to help people, you will be able to attract more customers, employees, and investors. Your brand will then have a great reputation and loyal customers, making it skyrocket like anything!
  5. Work-Life Integration: When you are all set to help the world, even your employees will be happy. In fact, employees will get the assurance that the work environment is absolutely healthy for them to work in. A workplace that helps create a work-life balance is a place where everyone will work to the best of their abilities, be satisfied, and live a stress-free life.

Traits Needed for Being Successful in Spiritual Entrepreneurship

Do you want to be a  successful spiritual entrepreneur? Here are a few traits you need to develop [6]:

  1. Self-awareness and Authenticity: One of the most important traits for you to be a successful spiritual entrepreneur is to be completely aware of who you are and why you would want to be an entrepreneur. That way, you can understand your strengths, weaknesses, values, and beliefs. The more aware you are about yourself, the more aligned and authentic your business will be.
  2. Resilience and Perseverance: The business can be quite challenging. With business come a lot of ups and downs. And if it’s a business that runs on an ethical basis filled with values, then the challenges become even more. So, you need to develop the ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. The more you keep getting back up again and again, the more firm the foundation of your life and business will be.
  3. Vision and Purpose:  Do you have a clear vision for your business and purpose? To be a successful spiritual entrepreneur, clarity of your vision and purpose-driven by a higher calling and working towards it is of utmost importance.
  4. Understanding and Kindness: Most often, business owners, when they become successful, become extremely rude and think too highly of themselves. If you want to be a successful spiritual entrepreneur, you have to learn to be compassionate and kind. Plus, you need to be able to understand the needs of your customers, employees, and society better. Take care of your employees and customers, they will take care of you and your family for generations to come.
  5. Innovative Thinking: To be a successful spiritual entrepreneur, you can’t think like a regular business owner. You need to be creative, curious, and think out of the box. That way, you can explore new ideas and help society find better solutions to their problems.
  6. Collaboration and Partnership: You can’t have a one-person show. To be successful, you need to have a team that believes in you and your vision- within the organization as well as outside. So, get out, talk to people, network, and see if some like-minded people would like to collaborate with you.

Ideas of Spiritual Entrepreneurship

There are a number of ideas out there in the market today. You just have to figure out what you strongly believe in. But, here are a few ideas you can consider [7]:

Ideas of Spiritual Entrepreneurship

  1. Mindfulness and Meditation Programs: Like Deepak Chopra, you can create programs on mindfulness and meditation. In fact, you don’t need to do it on a one-on-one basis. You can even conduct these programs with corporates and schools also, in person as well as online. These programs can help people across the globe become people who are healthy overall, less stressed, and grow from within. United We Care is also one such platform that provides these programs.
  2. Holistic Wellness Centers: The world is stressed, and burnout rates are at an all-time high. If you help set up such centers, you would be helping such people get aligned with themselves and focus on their health- mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
  3. Sustainable and Ethical Products: The ancient scriptures have all spoken about certain stones, crystals, and oils that can benefit people. Why don’t you indulge in that? These products can really help people, but you need to have the right knowledge about them. You can convert them into jewelry, candles, decoration items, etc., also. Make sure that you are getting the products from a trusted source only and that you are giving a genuine product and not a fake one.
  4. Spiritual Coaching and Mentoring: Although it’s less of a business idea and more of God’s work, you can give spiritual coaching and mentor people so that they, too, can learn the principles of spirituality. The only thing is that you need to get the right training.
  5. Retreats and Spiritual Tourism: Have you seen the movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love?’ You can also organize a trip where people can experience nature and spirituality at their roots. In fact, you can even conduct weekend retreats where people can come for two days and get the relaxation they need. Trust me, these people will have the time of their lives.
  6. Social Impact Ventures: You can directly create a venture that can help the underprivileged section of society so that they can get the right education, overcome environmental challenges, and get an income to support their families. Such social causes, if you align with your vision and mission, can bring you success as well as leave a huge impact on the world. For example, one of such social impact ventures is the Siddhi Philanthropic Foundation in India, which works for the underprivileged section of the society.

Conclusion

Spirituality has become a way of life for many people. I believe you cannot have sustained success in life if you don’t bring spirituality into it. You can bring these values and beliefs even into your business and become a spiritual entrepreneur. Spiritual entrepreneurship is not just about financial success, but also about helping society. In fact, when you do that, you will have more loyal customers, happy employees, and investors or stakeholders who believe in you. So, you can get into business, but you need to get into it with the right values and in an ethical manner.
