About My Family
I have two beautiful little girls who keep me busy and entertained. We love to spend time crafting, going on hikes and dancing in the living room to whatever soundtrack they are listening to that week.
About My Professional Experience
In my role as a School Social Worker, I work in collaboration with school professionals to support students and families from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds around attendance, mental health concerns and family challenges. I conduct numerous psycho-educational groups in different grades with a focus on anxiety, relationships, positive communication and mindfulness-focused coping strategies. As a Youth and Family Counselor at Nexus Youth Services, I provided clinical support to youth between the ages of 14 to 24 years old. I also developed and implemented a 5 week Mindfulness group for youth. As a Permanency Planning Worker and an Emergency After Hours Worker at Peel Children’s Aid Society, I developed strong skills in child welfare, crisis support, assessment, interviewing and case management. I am committed to working with individuals and families using a strength-based and anti-oppressive approach. I have excellent skills in both written and verbal communication, engagement and crisis intervention. While working at different open custody facilities such as Cuthbert House, I supported young adults with reintegration into the community. I use an eclectic approach which includes a variety of therapeutic modalities in keeping with current evidence-based practices. I am proficient at conducting, developing and implementing client assessments and treatment plans in both brief interventions and long term counselling support. I have also gained the ability to navigate various systems to advocate on behalf of my clients and to coordinate services and resources.
