Shahnaz Jafarzadeh | Psychotherapist
I am a psychotherapist specialized in working with trauma and various mental health issues. I am originally from Iran, but have spent most of my life in Canada where I have completed my education from the University of Windsor, York University and McGill University. My philosophy is to encourage clients to see their challenging times as opportunities to create positive changes in their life, which will lead to the permanent healing of pain.
About My Family
I am family oriented, and a strong believer in family support. I believe providing emotional support to the family creates a strong bond and trust to stand by each other.
About My Professional Experience
My approach is to create motivation to strengthen the vision for a life free of emotional pain, anxiety and depression. I encourage clients to see challenging times as an opportunity to create positive changes in life that would lead to permanent healing from the pain. Real changes happen when there is space to provide trust and support to go through the transition into a healthy lifestyle. My approach involves Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Decentralization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family System (IFS). These modalities are used for the development of new skills for stress-reduction, emotion regulation, and effective coping strategies to manage external life circumstances. In the last 17 years of my practice in psychotherapy, I’ve helped my clients envision a life free of emotional pain, anxiety, and depression. I work with adults and couples to develop self-acceptance and cope with a variety of concerns related to long-term effects of trauma, abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and domestic violence.
About My Fun Side
I am a first-generation Immigrant living in Canada. I speak 7 languages and enjoy traveling to different places and learn more about the world we live in.
